Maggie Biddle’s Tea Party

On Saturday 14th May, Maggie and her Thursday Group, put on their annual Charity Fundraiser at the home of one of their members, Pam, at Godolphin Way in Newquay.

This year we, at Cornwall Blood Bikes, are fortunate enough to be their chosen charity, with future event planned.   A significant amount of preparation had gone into this day, including the making of knitted Money Box Covers, Figures and Sprouts, not to mention the Paperwork holders from old books.   All very good ideas, and for sale, along with donated plants and tickets for the raffle! Also attending was the Celtic Fiddlers, providing the entertainment in the back garden, where Cream Teas were all the rage!

A Fleet Blood Bike was in attendance, for photographs and information, with the Rider being made very welcome, and plied with copious amounts of Tea!!!  Never a good idea when you have to go out on Blood jobs after!!!

Many thanks to Maggie, Pam and all the Thursday Group for their support.biddle3 biddle2 biddle1

Freemasons Presentation

Sunday 15th May 2016 was an absolutely stunning day.  Absolutely redders.

I drove down to the contain to pick up Bike 2 as the Charity was one of many guest benefactors of the Freemasons 2016 Charity Presentation.  The event was held at The Masonic Hall in Newquay.  There were 33 Charities spanning the county of Cornwall. Presentations were made by the Provincial Grand Master for Cornwall, Mr Stephen Pearn and in a lot of cases, individual Lodges who had chosen benefactors of their own.

When speaking to the Stephen Pearn I left him in no doubt that we were so humbled to be thought of by the Freemasons as a deserving Charity for them to support.  I am told that this won’t be an isolated occasion either which makes it doubly enjoyable to attend.

We received a fantastic £500 cheque.

After the ceremony we were treated to refreshments, sandwiches and cake and an opportunity to meet Freemason members and representatives of other Charities to find out what they do.

There was considerable interest in the Cornwall Blood Bikes which was very reassuring, going to prove that people know we are out there, what we are doing and the difference we make in the County for those who need us.

Well done us!!!!!!!!!!
