At the end of June Cornwall Blood Bikes were kindly invited to pop along and give a talk to the Roche & District Young Farmers Club. This great group of people had nominated CBB at the end of last year as one of their chosen charities and many fundraising events were organised. In the lead up to Christmas our very own on duty rider Peter Wyper paid their Christmas Fayre a visit and our BMW R1200 RTP drew a bit of attention for photo opportunities.
Many other events have been held such as a talent show, and bingo to name a few. On the night we sent along our very own advanced fleet bike rider Mr John Green. John gave a detailed talk about our charity from all aspects of our GMP sample handing with NICE guidelines to how we operate our free charity service to the Counties hospitals and hospices, in turn saving the NHS in Cornwall in excess of £250,000 a year. John spoke in detail about what we carry in terms of blood, stem cells, pathology samples, medication, breast milk and much more
The evening culminated in everyone outside on a lovely Cornish summer evening to see one of our biggest assets – our BMW R1200 RTPs, as the groups gathered around the bike, John was presented with a cheque by Roche & District Young Farmers for a wonderful amount of £1,000.00 simply incredible!
John quoted: “It was an absolute pleasure to attend the evening and talk about our charity but to presented with the cheque was phenomenal a very big thank you to everyone involved in Roche YFC and for supporting Cornwall Blood Bikes- simply superb!”
