Our Cornwall Blood Bike volunteer Jayne Penlerick was very kindly invited by Cornwall Ostomy Group to attend one of their monthly meetings.
They are a group based in Carnon Downs, Cornwall, England to support people who have a Colostomy, Ileostomy or Urostomy. People who have had an ostomy reversal or who may face this type of operation in the future and their partners/carers. Their aim is to provide support mainly for people in the UK and Cornwall.
Jayne attended on a very wet dark March afternoon to be greeted by the warmest of welcomes by Ray and his wife, and Ken with so many members being in attendance. On arrival Jayne was introduced to the specialist Stoma Nurse from the Royal Cornwall Hospital, and then was invited to join Ray and Ken on the floor to receive a cheque for £500.00, and then was asked to give a short talk on how that money will be used by our charity.
Jayne spoke for about 20 minutes on how this tremendous amount will stay in Cornwall and literally keep our wheels turning on our fleet of 11 BMW 1200 RTP’s. These bikes are our biggest props, and are “work horses” which operate across our County out of hours delivering our professional and dedicated free service to our hospitals and hospices.
We send a very big heartfelt thank you to all the members of The Cornwall Ostomy Support Group for thinking of us, and showing their support to our purely volunteer run charity.
