At Cornwall Blood Bikes we love celebrating the very special ways in which the people from the County of Cornwall fundraise for us.
Do you remember seeing the impressive sight of Lightning McQueen last year at some of our CBB events, before it was ready to set off for an adventure?
Team Lightning McQueen 95 consisting of John & Alison Gaisford, took part in a rally around Europe: Gib or Bust to raise money for their chosen charity – Cornwall Blood Bikes.
This rally took them through 5 countries and 2 Continents starting at St Austell where they left the Cornwall Hotel & Spa on Sunday 30th September in the company of a splendid sight of other Teams and their fabulous sturdy vehicles. Team 95 was bid bon voyage by our on duty advanced fleet bike rider Steve Moss.
After leaving Cornwall on the 30th Sept, catching the ferry from Plymouth to Santander and travelling through Spain to Salamanca, then onward to Porto in Portugal and Lagos.
The next day onward to Gibraltar – Gib or Bust over 2300 miles in 5 days.
Their 1998 Corvette that is now 20 years old and was put through its paces on this epic adventure.
CBB are always blown away by the outstanding efforts people go to keep our wheels turning.
John knows better than most just how essential this money is to our operations across Cornwall.
John is one of our advanced fleet bike riders who dedicates his time to riding in all winds and weathers delivering to our hospitals and hospices.
On the 5th December 2018 CBB volunteers attending their Christmas Volunteer meeting where John stepped forward to hand over a cheque for the phenomenal amount of £1,100.00 where CBB PR Media Liaison Jayne Penlerick accepted on behalf of the charity.
