At the end of March 2019 Cornwall Blood Bikes received a phone call from the President of Kernow Quilters asking where they could send a cheque for our charity.
Our CBB volunteer Jayne got chatting and as the conversation evolved discovered that these magnificent ladies were a quilting group that meet every Thursday at Mylor Bridge and had held an exhibition in the Autumn of their needlework quilting masterpieces, all in aid of our charity.
Jayne and her colleague Ian have a firm belief that all those that support our charity and help keep our wheels turning do not simply place a cheque in the post, that we try and endeavour to get a bike and our riders to pop by and say a thank you.
So CBB volunteers John & Jayne Penlerick and on duty rider Paul Thomas headed down on a Thursday morning to Mylor Bridge to say hello to these ladies. They were greeted with a very warm welcome and a cup of tea. Jayne gave a short talk about Cornwall Blood Bikes and how this money will be spent on helping us continue to deliver our professional and dedicated service to our hospitals and hospices.
The Kernow Quilters raised an astounding £1,000.00 and we truly cannot thank them enough for not only their hospitality shown on they but this outstanding donation.
